Last year I travelled with Ellie Stewart? to Stroud where she visited the grave of her mother on her own for the first time since her loss fourteen years ago. Her mother is buried in an unmarked grave on a lonely hillside miles away from her, and this film explores the impact such a burial can have on grieving, connecting with the dead and the understanding of loss.

From the lonely depths of Wastwater, across the crags of Hardknott Pass then south to Hawkshead and the peripheries of the vast Grizedale Forest, FELL is a journey through the mountains of North West England.

There were no words left. I was alone with the beast; thick as a log and with teeth like broken glass, curled around me like a dog. People passed by on all sides. "Where do you come from?" I asked, afraid to touch his scales. "Are you ready for me to show you?" he said... REGENERATION is a woman's journey from a landscape drained of colour into the heart of the underworld. From Hades' gate to endless tunnels of floating blood, we drift through the arteries of memory towards the centre of her grief; here a revelation permits her to return to the surface. But has she changed? This is a film about acceptance, then metamorphosis. Ultimately, optimism in the process of recovery. In the afternoon she walks by the river. She enjoys being blinded by the dying sun, which glares through the leaves of overhanging trees. It has been a long summer. Now it meets its end. She walks towards the weeping willow. Here she will say goodbye to the long, hot days which have filled her mind with happiness these last few weeks.
